ELTON JOHN
At the recent Elton John concert held at Colchester United’s Community Stadium the SES team showed just how to manage and control bespoke security operations at a prestigious event. Working through bad weather and then bright sunshine and intense heat the SES staff showed event preparedness at its best.
The small ground holding 16,000 was packed to the gunnels and the SES team proved yet again how good they are at devising innovative and alternative management deliveries to manage a very different crowd to the normal rock or pop concert, a crowd with very high expectations. The smooth running of the event and the spotting of issues, which may have caused problems early on, showed the careful and considerate way in which the SES team managed everyone’s expectations.
Managing the expectations of a wet and unsettled audience is an art well practised by the team and then being able to change quickly into supporting those affected by heat and sun takes excellent briefing techniques and the devolution of activities through a strong management structure. Again the event went without a hitch and the SES team were praised for their efforts.
